2019 WSBC President Pamela R. Reiter

Pamela has nearly fourteen years of experience as a federal district court law clerk. She joined Johnson, Janklow, Abdallah & Reiter, LLP, as an associate attorney in early 2008. Pamela has been a partner in the firm since 2011. Her practice focuses on civil litigation, including trust and estate litigation,  business disputes and other complex civil litigation. She also represents individuals before professional licensing boards. 

In 1995, Pamela was admitted to the State Bar of South Dakota and has been an active member since that date. She was elected by the members of the State Bar of South Dakota as the President Elect in 2016. She was sworn in as the State Bar President on June 23, 2017, and will serve in that capacity until June 2018. She served a four-year term as a member of the State Bar’s Disciplinary Board from 2013 to 2017. She was elected as a Bar Commissioner in 2010 to serve a three-year term and was appointed to the State Bar’s Strategic Planning Committee. She served as President of the Young Lawyers Section from 2000 to 2001 and on the Young Lawyers Board from 1999 to 2001. She has been appointed to several committees, including the Continuing Legal Education Committee, and served as the Chair of the Law School Committee for more than a decade. Pamela is also a member of the American Bar Association and the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association

From 1994 to 2008, Pamela was a federal law clerk. She clerked for the Honorable John B. Jones for 5½ years, for the Honorable Charles B. Kornmann for 17 months and most recently for the Honorable Lawrence L. Piersol for 7 years. From her experience with the federal courts, Pamela developed an in-depth knowledge of the federal rules of procedure and federal court practice. She has served as local counsel in several cases assisting out-of-state attorneys in federal court actions, including class actions.

Pamela was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Management from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota, graduating summa cum laude. She also graduated summa cum laude and first in her class from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1994.

Pamela is married and has twin boys and a daughter.
